Riverside

East of the Old City the Ping River runs north to south, and Wat Ket is the neighbourhood on the far bank, reached by the Nawarat and Iron bridges. It is quieter than anywhere else we cover in Chiang Mai, with low-rise hotels, gardens and a couple of pools.

Of those with a January price: At Pingnakorn Riverside is around ฿3,651 a night and Rimping Village around ฿5,612. Puripunn Hideaway is around ฿4,204 and RarinJinda Wellness Spa Resort around ฿5,985, both for 15 to 18 November 2026 (held for a spot check). Kittawan Home&Gallery is around ฿1,200 and Gategaa Village around ฿2,596, both for 15 to 18 November 2026 (there was no price for 12 to 15 January 2027).

The cost is the walk. Location scores here average lower than in any other Chiang Mai area, and the range runs from 9.1 down to 8.3, both the lowest ceiling and the lowest floor of the four, and the widest spread. At Pingnakorn Riverside sits at the bottom of it, about 2.1km from Tha Phae Gate. If you are not happy taking a Grab most evenings, this is the wrong side of the water.

Two things run in its favour. Every property here carries at least 1,466 combined reviews, a higher floor than any other Chiang Mai area, so there are no thin samples to squint at. And the weakest wifi score on this bank is 8.6, which is the best worst-case of the four: whatever else is uncertain here, the connection is not.
