Chatuchak Weekend Market
The weekend market in the north of the city, thousands of stalls under tin, with opening days that three official-looking sources describe three different ways.

Verified via. The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration's public-space record for Chatuchak, read on 18 September 2026, gives the trading days and 05:00-18:00. OpenStreetMap records the market as a tourism attraction at 13.8004, 100.5504, linked to Wikidata Q1068311, with a different set of days again.
Admission
No admission charge is recorded for the market itself, and nobody official will tell us there is none. The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration market office pages refuse automated requests, so we have no operator statement either way. A Thai government site states plainly that entry is free, but that site is the host site for the 2026 IMF and World Bank meetings rather than the market's operator, so we quote it rather than confirm it. The stalls themselves are cash.
Chatuchak is a market big enough to have its own clock tower as a meeting point, sections numbered like a city, and a reputation for swallowing a whole day. It sits at the north end of both the MRT and the BTS, which is the main reason it is easy to reach and hard to leave.
Three schedules, and why we are showing you all three. The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration’s own public-space record says the general market trades Friday to Sunday and is closed Monday to Wednesday, with the plant market Tuesday to Thursday, all within 05:00 to 18:00. OpenStreetMap says Saturday and Sunday 09:00 to 18:00, Wednesday and Thursday 07:00 to 18:00, and Friday from 18:00. The site at chatuchakmarket.org, which is not verifiably connected to the operator, says plants on Wednesday and Thursday, wholesale on Friday evening and the whole market at weekends. Thai news reporting has also described a move to a six-day trading week, which appears on no operator page we could open. If your trip has one free day in it, make it a Saturday or a Sunday, which every source agrees on.
On admission. Everything you read says entry is free, and it very probably is. What we could not do is get that from the body that runs the market, because its pages return an error to anything but a person with a browser. A Thai government site says “Entrance Fee: Free” in both English and Thai. That is good evidence, and it is not the operator, so this listing carries a note rather than a confirmed zero.
What to expect, honestly. Corrugated roofing, narrow aisles, no air conditioning, and a temperature inside the covered sections noticeably higher than out on the street. The government site’s own advice is breathable clothes, a hat and comfortable shoes, and to come between nine and eleven or after four. That is sensible enough to pass on.
