Promthep Cape
The headland at the southern tip of the island, with the Kanchanaphisek lighthouse on it, and the sunset that every Phuket itinerary ends on.

Verified via. Rawai Sub-district Municipality's own tourism page for Laem Phromthep, read on 18 September 2026, describes it as about 2km from Rawai Beach, the southernmost cape of Phuket, a popular sunset viewpoint, and the site of the Kanchanaphisek Lighthouse. OpenStreetMap records the viewpoint at 7.7589, 98.3034.
Admission
No authority states a price. Rawai Sub-district Municipality, which covers the cape, publishes a page describing it with no admission or hours section at all. Secondary sources all say entry and parking are free. Absence of a fee statement is not the same as a statement that there is no fee, so this listing carries no figure.
Promthep Cape is the last piece of Phuket, a spur of headland at the southern tip with a stand of sugar palms along its spine and the Andaman on three sides. The municipality that covers it describes it as about two kilometres from Rawai Beach, the southernmost cape of the province, and a popular place to watch the sun go down, which is as fair a description as anyone has written.
What is actually up there. The Kanchanaphisek Lighthouse, built for the King’s golden jubilee, with a small museum inside it and a walkway out along the ridge. The far point has its own name, Laem Chao. There are stalls, a large car park, and an elephant shrine.
The honest version of the sunset. Everyone arrives in the last half hour, from tour minibuses and scooters at the same time, and the car park is not big enough for them. Come an hour early, walk out along the ridge away from the terrace, and you get the same sun with a fraction of the people.
On the price. Nobody official says. Rawai Municipality’s page for the cape has no admission section at all, and every travel site says free, including for parking. That is very likely correct, and it is not a source, so this page carries no figure rather than a confident zero.
What we have not done. Been there for that sunset. The description above is the municipality’s, the coordinates are OpenStreetMap’s, and the queue for the car park is everybody else’s.
