November to February is dry, the least hot, and the busiest. March to May is the hottest stretch, and the rainy season runs from around May to October.
Pattaya sits on the Gulf of Thailand, roughly 150km south-east of Bangkok by road, and it is really several different places to stay rather than one.
Central Pattaya is the city behind the main beach, running from Terminal 21 down towards Walking Street. North of it are Naklua and Wong Amat. South is the Pratumnak headland, and beyond that the long beach at Jomtien. Which of those you pick changes the trip more than which hotel you pick inside it.
One thing stands out in the data. Pattaya hotels carry enormous review samples: several of our picks here have more than 20,000 reviews, and Grande Centre Point Pattaya has over 33,000. That makes the scores unusually well tested, even where they are not the highest we list.
