A long day from Chiang Mai to Chiang Rai province for the White Temple, the Blue Temple and usually the Black House, with much of it on the road.

Five Chiang Rai day trips from Chiang Mai with real samples were read on their own Klook pages on 18 September 2026. Three clear our bar of 9.0 out of 10 and 50 reviews; two do not, and are named below, including one with 1,523 reviews whose listing is almost identical to the best-scoring trip. Temple admission charges were not verified and are not published. We have not done this trip.

Wat Rong Khun, the White Temple, is a contemporary temple in Chiang Rai province covered in white plaster and mirrored glass, and still not finished. It is the reason most people take this trip. The Blue Temple and the Black House, a collection of dark wooden buildings with a very different mood, usually complete the day.

Look at the first and fourth rows together. They are listed under almost the same name and web address, sell nearly the same itinerary, and score 4.8 and 4.4. Search results put them side by side. Check the activity number in the address before you pay, because the difference between them is the thing a score is supposed to tell you.
It is a long day. Chiang Rai is a separate province to the north-east, and the round trip is mostly road. If you have more than a day to give it, staying a night in Chiang Rai town turns the same sights into something you can enjoy rather than photograph between minibus stops.
What we did not check. Admission at the temples themselves, which is charged separately at some of them and which we have not verified. No trip prices here either: Klook quotes in US dollars across several packages.
