Tanote, Leuk and Sai Daeng: separate bays over the hill, with the snorkelling, the best wifi on average of our Koh Tao areas, and none of the strip.

The east coast is a set of separate bays over the hill from the main strip: Tanote, Leuk and Sai Daeng, each with a handful of places and its own snorkelling straight off the sand.

Of those with a January price: Tanotebay View Resort is around ฿5,300 a night and Sai Daeng Resort around ฿7,705. Lub d Koh Tao Tanote Bay is around ฿2,183 for 15 to 18 November 2026 (held for a spot check). Ecotao Lodge is around ฿4,050 and Mae Ya Resort around ฿3,500, both for 15 to 18 November 2026 (there was no price for 12 to 15 January 2027). Cape Shark Villas is around ฿4,470 for 15 to 18 November 2026 (left out of the January refresh: only two-bedroom pool villas).

The isolation is the product, and the location scores reflect it. Nothing here is walkable to anywhere else. The wifi, though, is the best on the island averaged and at the floor, which is not what the isolation would lead you to expect.
