Railay

Railay is a peninsula south of Ao Nang, cut off from the mainland roads by limestone cliffs, so you arrive by boat. Tonsai Bay, round the headland north-west of Railay West, is on the same peninsula and reached the same way.

On average our picks here have the best location scores of the five Krabi areas, and both ends of that range sit above the rest: the highest location score we list in Krabi is 9.7 at Rayavadee, and even the lowest here, 8.5 at Rapala Rock Wood, is a higher floor than any other Krabi area manages.

Of those with a January price, Bhu Nga Thani is around ฿10,167 a night. Tonsai Bay Resort is around ฿2,222 and Railay Phutawan Resort around ฿10,956, both for 15 to 18 November 2026 (held for a spot check). Rapala Rock Wood is around ฿2,000, Avatar Railay around ฿3,600 and Rayavadee around ฿86,299, all for 15 to 18 November 2026 (there was no price for 12 to 15 January 2027). On our November dates only two room types were bookable at Rayavadee, a family suite and a pool villa, which is why that top figure is as high as it is.

What the peninsula does not do is value. The best value-for-money score here is 8.9, lower than the best in any other Krabi area, which is what happens when everything has to arrive by boat.

There is one consolation for anyone weighing the numbers: every property here carries at least 2,938 combined reviews, a higher floor than any other Krabi area, so whatever else is uncertain, the scores are well evidenced.
