Bangla Road
Four hundred metres of bars, clubs and noise through the middle of Patong, pedestrianised in the evening, and licensed to trade later than almost anywhere else in Thailand.

Checked on 18 September 2026. The 04:00 closing time is from the ministerial regulation itself in the Royal Gazette, which is the one hard fact on this page. The 18:00 pedestrianisation that every guide repeats could not be traced to any municipal or provincial order, so it is described as reported rather than stated. Patong Municipality publishes no dress code, parking or safety guidance for the street, so we attribute none to it. We have not been.
Verified via. The Ministerial Regulation Prescribing Opening and Closing Times of Service Establishments (No. 3) B.E. 2566, published in the Royal Gazette on 15 December 2023, extends trading for licensed service establishments in Bangkok, Chon Buri, Chiang Mai, Phuket and Ko Samui to 04:00. OpenStreetMap records Bangla Road as a tourism attraction at 7.8937, 98.2966.
Admission
Walking the street costs nothing, because it is a public road, but Patong Municipality publishes no fee statement either way, so this listing carries no confirmed zero. Individual venues set their own cover charges, commonly reported at 300 to 500 baht including a drink in the larger clubs and nothing at all in most bars. We have not verified any of those.
Bangla Road runs from the Patong beach road inland for about four hundred metres, and for most of its length it is bars on both sides, open fronted, each with its own sound system aimed at the street. In the evening it is closed to traffic and fills with people, touts, fire shows and the noise of six competing playlists.
The one thing here with a legal citation behind it. Phuket is one of five areas, with Bangkok, Chon Buri, Chiang Mai and Ko Samui, where licensed service establishments may trade until 04:00, under a ministerial regulation published in the Royal Gazette in December 2023. That is why Patong keeps going long after the rest of the island has closed, and it is a rule with a document behind it rather than a rumour.
The thing everybody states and nobody sources. That the road closes to vehicles at 18:00. It is in every guide, it matches what visitors describe, and we could not find a municipal announcement, a provincial order or a police notice that says it. So: reported, not confirmed.
What it costs. Nothing to walk down. Bars mostly have no cover charge, the larger clubs are commonly described as charging 300 to 500 baht with a drink included, and we have verified none of that. Drinks are Patong prices. The standard advice about running a tab, counting your change and ignoring anybody offering a show off the main street applies here more than anywhere else in Phuket.
