Simon Cabaret has been running in Patong for decades and is the show most Phuket itineraries include. It is an hour or so of costume changes, mimed numbers from several countries’ pop canons, and choreography performed by a cast of transgender and drag performers, in a purpose-built theatre a few minutes from the beach road.
It sits exactly on our bar. 4.5 out of 5 from 4,412 reviews is 9.0 on our scale, which is the number we publish as our minimum for a tour. It clears, and it clears by nothing. With a sample that large, the score is a fair reflection of a show that most people enjoy and some find dated.
Two things to know before you book. The performance is mimed rather than sung live, which surprises people who expected a concert. And photographs with the cast outside afterwards are a tipping arrangement, with a sign at the door setting the rate per performer, so carry small notes if you want them and walk past if you do not.
Why this is on the same list as a national park. Because it is one of the handful of things in Patong that a family can do together in the evening, and because the alternative most itineraries default to is Bangla Road. We list it, we publish the score it earned, and we leave the rest to you.
