Bang Krachao, the green lung
A river bend of villages, orchards and raised concrete cycle paths, ten minutes across the water from the city and kept deliberately unbuilt.

Checked on 21 September 2026. There is no ticket to verify, so this listing prints no price and describes the boat and bicycle costs as the informal, vendor-set figures they are. The area is across the provincial boundary in Samut Prakan rather than in Bangkok proper. We have not been.
Verified via. The Tourism Authority of Thailand lists Khung Bang Kachao as an attraction. OpenStreetMap carries the area as node 5350019821 at 13.6965, 100.5667, inside the Chao Phraya's bend in Phra Pradaeng district, Samut Prakan. No admission is charged because there is no gate.
Admission
There is nothing to buy a ticket for: it is an inhabited peninsula of villages, temples, a public park and a weekend market, not a gated attraction. The costs are the boat across, commonly a few tens of baht, and bicycle hire from private vendors at the pier, commonly quoted around 50 baht an hour or 100 for a day. Those rates are informal and set by each vendor, so agree the price before you take the bike.
The river loops so tightly here that it almost meets itself, and the land inside the loop was never built on. What is there instead is orchards, stilt houses, temples and a network of narrow raised concrete paths, about a metre wide, running above ground that floods.
You get there by boat. A longtail from a pier on the city side takes a few minutes and costs a few tens of baht. Bicycles are hired at the landing from whoever is there, at rates each vendor sets, so ask first and agree the number.
The paths are the point and the hazard. Riding a metre-wide concrete path over water with no railing is either the best hour of your trip or a mistake, depending on how you feel about bicycles. Go slowly and give way.
The market is a weekend thing. Bang Nam Phueng floating market runs at weekends, which is also when the paths are busiest with Bangkok families doing the same ride.
In the rains, mind the surface. The unpaved and older sections get slick from roughly June to October, which includes now.
Sri Nakhon Khuean Khan Park, the public park in the middle, is the shaded place to stop, and the lake in the photograph above is in it.
