Museum Siam
An interactive museum about what being Thai means, in a colonial-era ministry building near Wat Pho. Open Tuesday to Sunday, 10:00 to 18:00.

Checked on 21 September 2026. The hours and the current exhibition come from the museum's own site, which is script-built and had to be read in a browser rather than fetched. The admission price is not printed anywhere on it, so none is published here. Run by the National Discovery Museum Institute. We have not been.
Verified via. The museum's own website, museumsiam.org, read in a browser on 21 September 2026, states in Thai: "เปิดให้บริการ 10.00 - 18.00 น. เปิดให้บริการวันอังคาร-วันอาทิตย์ (ปิดให้บริการทุกวันจันทร์)", that is 10:00 to 18:00, Tuesday to Sunday, closed Mondays. The same site gives the current main exhibition as "ถอดรหัสไทย", Decoding Thainess. OpenStreetMap carries the museum as way 349609932 at 13.7440, 100.4939.
Admission
The museum's own site does not print a price on any page we could read: its ticketing sits on a separate system we could not reach. Travel sites consistently say 100 baht for a foreign adult, which we have not been able to confirm. Take cash and expect a charge of around that.
Museum Siam asks a single question, which is what “Thai” means and how it was assembled, and answers it with rooms you walk through rather than cases you read. The permanent exhibition is called Decoding Thainess, and it is the most enjoyable museum in the old town for anyone under twelve.
It is the opposite of the National Museum. Ten minutes’ walk apart, and almost entirely different experiences: one is artefacts and chronology, the other is interactive and argumentative. Visitors expecting the first sometimes come away disappointed by the second, which is why we say it plainly here.
The building is a period piece. It was the Ministry of Commerce, built in the European style that Rama V’s government favoured, and it stands just south of Wat Pho on Sanam Chai Road, on top of the MRT station of the same name.
Closed Mondays. The museum’s own site says so, and it is the one fact on this page that comes straight from them.
What it costs we cannot tell you: the ticket prices live on a system we could not read. The figure circulating is 100 baht.

Families, a rainy afternoon, and anyone who finds artefact cases heavy going
