Night Bazaar

The Chang Khlan grid between the moat and the river, where the market is.

Chang Khlan is the grid of streets between the eastern moat and the Ping, and the Night Bazaar runs through the middle of it along Chang Khlan Road. The market sets up every evening; the rest of the day this is an ordinary, fairly busy part of town with the river one block east.

Of those with a January price: Boonnark Bed Night Bazaar is around ฿1,045 a night, Himku Hotel around ฿2,202, POR Kotchasarn around ฿4,222, Meliá Chiang Mai around ฿7,896, Chiang Mai Marriott Hotel around ฿8,309, and InterContinental Chiang Mai The Mae Ping around ฿11,965. Maladee Rendezvous is around ฿9,963 for 15 to 18 November 2026 (held for a spot check; two January reads disagreed on the room and total).

The scores are unusually even. Averaged across the platforms, our seven picks here span just 0.35 of a point, from 9.5 down to 9.15, the tightest range of our four Chiang Mai areas. What separates them is not quality so much as what you are paying for it.

Which is the catch. Value for money averages lower here than in any other Chiang Mai area, and the two weakest value scores in the city are both on this strip: Chiang Mai Marriott Hotel and InterContinental Chiang Mai The Mae Ping, both 8.8. Wifi is the other thing to check rather than assume: the spread here runs a full 2 points, wider than any of our other areas, and the perfect 10 and the 8.0 sit about 500 metres apart.

One caveat on the numbers. POR Kotchasarn carries 560 combined reviews, the smallest sample of any hotel we list in Chiang Mai, so its 9.5 on Booking.com is promising rather than proven.

Local tips

  • All seven of our picks here sit within about 750 metres of the Night Bazaar itself in a straight line, the Marriott closest at under 100
  • Four of the seven are five-stars, so this is the chain end of Chiang Mai; Boonnark Bed and Himku carry no official star rating at all
  • Wifi runs from a perfect 10 at POR Kotchasarn to 8.0 at the InterContinental, and Booking.com shows Meliá no wifi score at all, so check the property
  • Himku Hotel is adults only, and Boonnark Bed's own Booking.com listing name says there is no car parking
  • Maladee Rendezvous is held for a spot check
