Mae Haad

Mae Haad is the village at the pier, in the middle of the west coast. Every boat to the island lands here, which makes it the obvious base if you are arriving late, leaving early, or want to be equidistant from everything.

It is the best-placed area we cover on the island by both measures: the highest average location score, and the highest floor, with every one of our six scoring at least 9.0. The spread is also the tightest of the four areas.

Of those with a January price: Blue Wave House is around ฿3,200 a night and DD Hut Koh Tao around ฿3,750. Nadapa Resort is around ฿950, Lücke Boutique Hotel around ฿3,000 and Sensi Paradise Beach Resort around ฿3,845, all for 15 to 18 November 2026 (held for a spot check; Lücke’s January read was for an Oceanfront Penthouse Suite). Sunrise Koh Tao is around ฿1,500 for 15 to 18 November 2026 (left out of the January refresh: dorm bed only).

Wifi is the thing to check rather than the area. It runs from a perfect 10 at Lücke down to 6.3 at DD Hut, the widest swing of any Koh Tao area we list.
