The Four Islands day trip

The Four Islands trip is the Krabi day out: Ko Poda, Ko Kai with the Thalay Waen sandbar, Ko Tup and Phra Nang Cave Beach, usually in that order, from Ao Nang. Longtail is slower, cheaper and louder. Speedboat gets you more time in the water and less time in transit.

The fee to have in cash. These islands are in the general zone of Hat Noppharat Thara - Mu Ko Phi Phi National Park, so the department’s published rate is 200 baht for a foreign adult and 100 for a child, not the 400 baht widely quoted, which belongs to the Phi Phi islands. Some operators include it and some collect it at the pier. Ask, and carry it either way.

Tides decide what you actually get. The sandbar at Thalay Waen only exists at low tide, and Phra Nang and Poda are both better at the shallower end of the day. A trip that leaves at the wrong hour visits the same places with less to see, which is not something the listings will tell you.

What we are not publishing. Prices for the trips themselves. Klook quotes in US dollars across several packages per operator, so a single figure here would not match your checkout.

One thing worth doing instead. The same boat cooperative at Ao Nang publishes its own rates for a shorter run: Ko Kai and Ko Poda return at 300 baht per person with a minimum of eight passengers. If you want the islands without the full day, that is a real alternative and it comes from the cooperative’s own price list.
