Ko Larn gets the day-trippers because it is twenty minutes away. Ko Phai, Koh Rin and Koh Ped are an hour out, past the shipping, and the water is a different proposition.
The trade is time for quiet. A longer crossing each way, on a catamaran rather than a ferry, and beaches that do not have a line of speedboats parked on them. The same trade that makes Ko Larn easy makes it busy.
Lunch is on board, per the operator’s own description, and the day is a join-in trip rather than a private charter.
Open water. The run out is more exposed than the Ko Larn crossing, so if you are prone to seasickness take something before you board rather than after.
