Staff score 9.6 and location 9.1, the two numbers that carry it. It is directly on the water at Nai Wok, with tables and a swing on the sand, a line of bulbs strung between the trees, and the sun going down over the bay behind Koh Samui.
The huts are dark timber with tin roofs, beds under mosquito nets, hammocks along a shared verandah and a bathroom with a concrete floor. Booking.com lists it as beachfront, with a garden, yoga classes, hiking, baggage storage and express check-in, and shows no official star rating.
Four numbers are the lowest of our six Thong Sala picks and they all say the same thing. Cleanliness scores 8.8, comfort 9.0, facilities 8.6, and averaged across both platforms 8.85 is the lowest here. Value for money at 8.8 is the joint lowest here. None of those is a poor score, and a wooden hut on the sand was never going to beat a villa on finish. The cheapest booking for two on our dates was a bungalow at around ฿3,301 a night.
