Ang Thong National Marine Park

Ang Thong is an archipelago of forty-two limestone islands about 30km north-west of Samui, and it is the reason a lot of people put Samui on the list in the first place. You cannot reach it independently. Every visit is a boat, and every boat is a full day.

Rather than publish a number you will not find when you click through, we have left it out. Expect a full-day speedboat trip to sit in the low thousands of baht per person, and check the current figure yourself.

What to know before booking, with the park’s own figures. The national park charges admission on top of the tour price, collected on arrival. The Department of National Parks publishes 200 baht for a foreign adult and 100 for a child for Mu Ko Ang Thong, rising to 300 and 150 for the zone covering Ko Wua Talap and Ko Mae Ko, which is where the viewpoint and the Emerald Lake are and therefore where the boats go. It is not always included in what you paid, so ask the operator directly. The park also closes in some years during the north-east monsoon, roughly November to December, which overlaps with the cheapest hotel rates on the island.
