Big Buddha at Wat Phra Yai and Wat Plai Laem sit about two kilometres apart on Samui’s north-east corner, near the airport and the Bangrak hotels. This is the guided version of a trip you can absolutely do yourself.

At US$25.59, about ฿850 at 33.23 baht to the dollar on 15 September 2026, it is the cheapest tour we list. It scores 4.7 out of 5 from 60 reviews.

The obvious caveat, said plainly. Both temples are working religious sites, not ticketed attractions. If you have a scooter or a car you can visit them for the cost of the fuel. What you are buying here is hotel pickup, someone to explain what you are looking at, and not having to arrange transport twice in a day. Whether that is worth ฿850 depends entirely on whether you were going to hire transport anyway.

If you are staying at Bangrak or Choeng Mon you are already a few minutes from both, which weakens the case further. From Lamai or Mae Nam it looks better.

Dress covered at both: shoulders and knees, shoes off inside. This is not a tourist formality, it is a temple.
